A crunchy, light and buttery cookie with a hint of sweetness. Kaak are the cookies every Yemeni household knows: small rounds, baked until crisp and golden, that go with coffee, tea or a glass of milk.
We make ours the way they have always been made: in small batches, by hand. They are the cookie you keep in a tin on the counter, and the one you pack into gift boxes for Eid, weddings and new neighbors.
